From Book Week and birthdays to Halloween, parties and Christmas, there's always
a great reason to play dress ups with our kids!
If you're stuck for inspiration or your child is bored of the usual fairy or
prince, the following tips, including ideas can help fire up your creativity...
Creating an outfit
- Sit down with your child and decide on their outfit
- Ask them to help you sketch a picture so you both have a better idea of
the overall look
- Utilise old clothes, pieces of fabric, art materials and anything else
you can get your hands on to make the outfit (old netting make great fairy
wings, card and straws can be used to make wands and felt pieces can be cut
into the shape of moustaches, beards and super-hero masks).
- Use card to make accessories such as medical cases, purses, hats and
belts and ask your child to decorate them with felt tips, crayons or paint.
- If you have a needle and thread, try stitching different pieces of
fabric together - this is ideal for capes, gowns and veils.
